Top 5 Xbox One Launch Games

We are merely months away from the launch of the Xbox One. Its powerful hardware and great launch lineup had secured an impressive amount of pre-orders. Microsoft has promised revolutionary architecture including a robust CPU, GPU, and ESRAM for balanced performance. The Xbox One has said to be lightning fast and will be unlike anything gamers have ever seen. Today we want to look at our picks for Top 5 Xbox One Launch Games.

5. Crimson Dragon

Crimson Dragon: Xbox One

Crimson Dragon is an upcoming rail shooter exclusive to the Xbox One. Gamers will be in control of six types of dragons with over 100 skills and three-player online co-op. Players can level up their dragons by feeding them food earned during missions. The game is seen as a spiritual successor to the Panzer Dragoon series, not only because of its similar gameplay but also because of its returning staff; creator Yukio Futatsugi. Yukio was the director of the first three Panzer Dragoon games so the game is in good hands. Panzer Dragoon was one of my all time favorite games on the Dreamcast and I can’t wait to see what the team has in store for this Xbox Live release.

4. Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct Xbox One

One of the most acclaimed fighting game franchises returns on Xbox One. KI is a fighting game that was developed by the talented Rare team and published by Midway and Nintendo. It was first released as an arcade game in 1994. For many Killer Instinct was an instant favorite at the arcades. It featured truly epic characters and mind blowing combos. We were then treated to a port on the Super Nintendo and later saw Killer Instinct Gold on the Nintendo 64. Xbox One surprised everyone at E3 revealing their next gen console would launch with a new entry in the Killer Instinct series. It looks gorgeous and more brutal than ever. Ultra combos are back and it will surely be a must have come launch. Instead of being a free-to-play game, Killer Instinct will follow a specific pricing strategy, such as being able to purchase fighters individually or all together in one pack. A free demo will also be available on the launch day, featuring Jago as the only playable character, Jago’s practice mode, and the online mode (even against other characters).

3. Dead Rising 3

Dead Rising 3: Xbox One

This title will give gamers their first look at next generation zombies. With intense action and an unmatched level of weapon and character customization, Dead Rising 3 delivers a heart-pounding experience unlike any other as you fight for survival in a massive open world teeming with thousands of undead. Set 10 years after the events of Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 takes place in the vast city of Los Perdidos amid a nationwide zombie outbreak that’s on the brink of decimating mankind. The story follows Nick Ramos, a young mechanic with a strange tattoo and a mysterious past who must find a way to escape a city full of thousands of bloodthirsty zombies before an impending military strike wipes the city and everyone in it off the map. But Nick can’t do it alone — he must join up with other survivors to stay alive and fight their way out before it’s too late.

2. Forza 5

Forza Motorsports 5

Forza Motorsport 5 is a cinematic automotive journey starring the world’s greatest cars and tracks. Built from the ground up to take advantage of Xbox One and the vast power of the cloud, no game better delivers the wide-eyed thrill of racing. Never face alone by learning how you and your friends drive, the power of the cloud delivers real human behavior. Drivatar technology creates an ever-evolving network of opponents who are always ready to race. Real tendencies, real mistakes, real victories. A new graphics engine recreates thousands of physically-based materials at a level of precision never before possible; the play of light on a perfect coat of paint, the texture of hand-stitched leather and brushed metal, the history written onto scratched rotors and worn concrete. The definitive next-generation graphics engine delivers stunningly realistic visuals in 1080p resolution at 60 frames-per-second. A world of speed, beauty and danger real enough to touch. Own and race the cars of your dreams. Truly feel what it’s like to own the world’s most exclusive cars in an experience that brings you closer than ever to the history, craftsmanship, and potential of every car in the game. From purpose-built race cars to classic sports cars to modern tuners, every car features a customized career true to its heritage. With Smart Match matchmaking and Xbox Live dedicated servers, experience epic, fast, and competitive multiplayer perfectly suited to your skill and style.

1. Ryse

Ryse Son of Rome

Ryse: Son of Rome plunges you into the chaos and depravity of the late Roman Empire. Through the immersive realism made possible by Xbox One, it tells the story of Marius Titus who witnesses the murder of his family at the hands of barbarians. Seeking revenge, Marius must embark on a perilous journey of revenge, betrayal, and divine intervention. He joins the Roman army in Britannia and quickly rises through the ranks to become a General. As his war against the barbarians escalates, his quest unravels: to find his vengeance, he has to return to Rome. As Marius, you’ll engage in brutal combat and lead your forces into massive battles to save Rome from threats to its very existence. Ryse: Son of Rome presents a cinematic recreation of the Roman Empire in breathtaking detail, from the northern reaches of Britannia, to the coliseum and the very heart of Rome. With every new look at Ryse it looks more and more impressive making it our most anticipated launch title for the Xbox One.

Avid gamer who enjoys the older nostalgic titles as much as the newest AAA releases. Remakes from the classic 8 and 16 bit era are some my absolute favorite titles. I also enjoy experiencing new IP's on each and every platform, especially when the creators give the game an artistic look and unique presentation never seen before. I've been lucky enough to start out gaming on the NES. Since this rebirth of the industry, I have witnessed the evolution of gaming, both in its incredible growth in overall popularity and as an entertainment medium juggernaut. With the next generation of gaming upon us, there simply hasn't been a better time to be a gamer and I can't wait to experience all that it has to offer.

As far as exclusives go, I agree with this Top 5 except for Dead Rising 3 and Ryse. I consider both to be wild cards but DR3 is third in a franchise, so the developer knows what works and what doesn’t. Gone are the super long loading screens and stressful timers(although they are present at higher difficulties) while retaining the series’ trademark dark humor and custom weapons. While I give DR3 my top spot and drop Ryse to third, I still want to give it a shot at some point. On launch day though, I’m really excited for Battlefield 4. As a console only gamer, I’m really excited for the jump from 24 to 64 players, which should give us the “FULL” Battlefield experience for the first time ever. I believe on launch day I’ll be downloading Battlefield 4, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct and possibly Crimson Dragon. I’ll also be looking at the reviews of Watch Dogs, Ryse and Forza.

Well said Krypto. BF4 is looking amazing and the higher player count will make the online scene much more exciting on the consoles. Between the destructible environments and lush graphics, the game is going to be epic =)
