Top 3 Wii U System Sellers

With the Wii catalog at its weakest point and Nintendo itself posting its first loss in 30 years, the Wii U launch is more critical than ever. How can they ensure that gamers will flock to their new system and invest in this new console? High quality exclusive games are the answer. Here are our top 3 Wii U system sellers.

1. F-Zero

The first game in the series and a launch game for the SNES. The speed and techniques used in the games were considered to be revolutionary in a time when most console games were restricted to static/flat backgrounds and 2-dimensional (2D) objects. The result was developer Nintendo EAD creating the fastest and smoothest pseudo-3D racer ever on a console at that time. Why not repeat that move and make F-Zero the killer app for Wii U. Imagine having the map and alerts pop up on the controller’s 6 inch screen and blazing through new and re-worked classic tracks of previous versions. Sony has Gran Turismo, Microsoft has Forza and Nintendo needs F-Zero next gen.

2. New Super Mario Bros Mii

New Super Mario Bros. Mii was a tech demo shown at E3 2011. It was a tech demo shown to help users experience the power of the Wii U. It has many similarities graphic-wise to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but featured more detailed textures. This needs to be a packed in with every system. This is a game that can please nearly everybody. The addition of implementing your own Mii’s into the mix will only add more appeal and fun to the experience. While this would sell without a doubt on its own, packing it in with every Wii U would really sweeten the deal.

3. Metroid

It’s time for the bounty hunter Samus to make a return and in glorious HD. Nintendo could really show off the new controller and use it to its full potential with this classic. The game could also really push the hardware and show off what’s inside. Keep in mind, Metroid is one of Nintendo’s most financially successful franchises with over 16 million games sold. It is one of the company’s most highly acclaimed series and a fan favorite.

That is our top 3 picks for the Wii U launch but one can’t forget the importance of variety.  Quality is important but so is quantity. Nintendo is boasting they are finally committed to third party support which will also be key to their success with this next gen. Here are a few third party titles rumored for launch:

  • Aliens: Colonial Marines
  •  Batman: Arkham City
  •  Assassin’s Creed
  •  Darksiders 2
  •  Dirt 3
  •  Formula 1
  •  Ghost Recon Online
  •  Marvel Super Heroes
  •  Metro: Last Light
  •  Ninja Gaiden 3
  •  Rayman Legends
  •  Shield Pose
  •  Splinter Cell 6
  •  Sports Connection
  •  Tekken
  •  Zombie

Which games would guarantee your reserve on a Wii U? I’m excited for the new tech and hopefully new direction from Nintendo.  Leave your thoughts and let us know what titles you are hoping for at the Wii U system launch!

Avid gamer who enjoys the older nostalgic titles as much as the newest AAA releases. Remakes from the classic 8 and 16 bit era are some my absolute favorite titles. I also enjoy experiencing new IP's on each and every platform, especially when the creators give the game an artistic look and unique presentation never seen before. I've been lucky enough to start out gaming on the NES. Since this rebirth of the industry, I have witnessed the evolution of gaming, both in its incredible growth in overall popularity and as an entertainment medium juggernaut. With the next generation of gaming upon us, there simply hasn't been a better time to be a gamer and I can't wait to experience all that it has to offer.
